After watching Chris brown fall apart after his tribute to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, and immediately watch a report from a CNN news reporter this morning blast Brown for last years actions against singer Riahna, I got to thinking.
Things in our past both good and bad will always remain a part of who we are perceived to be. For Brown, even during what people now are calling an incredible tribute performance, quickly resurfaced was his part and conviction that some tried to use to overshadow his dynamic performance.
Entertainment and personal legal matters all rolled up into one report seems a little ridiculous. Why bring up the past to belittle the present? I in now way support Brown for his actions in the past, but his tribute to MJ should be talked about and celebrated without his personal troubles brought into play.
Are we holding on to too many personal grudges that resurface from time to time? Do we act like its no big deal but really have a fire that turns inferno with the strike of any single match? Life's too short they say, true it is but if somebody offended me years ago and I haven't gotten over it yet then that's my own damn fault. Squash the beefs quickly from this point forward so when you're ready for to perform your own Michael Jackson tribute in life, nobody can disrespect your efforts or drop negativity in your world. Your dance moves will be done with a clear mind and afterwards be celebrated rather than ridiculed. Do it people and "Live it off the wall".

ReplyDeleteMaybe it was in some movie when I was growing up, but I remember hearing things like "all a man had is his word and his character." Life has Brown lacking in both.
ReplyDeleteI was watching a vlog online the other day and a blogger reminded everyone that Jackson was also abused as a child. Even if you forget MJ's own misgivings, is Brown the proper person to pay tribute to someone who was abused earlier in life?
You get one chance in life. Forgiveness and forgetting are two different beasts. Your past DOES shape your future and if your livelihood comes from fans then yeah, maybe you shouldn't be let off the hook so soon. Especially considering part of your fan base is women.
Tave's response is a blog in itself, thanks for the comment.
ReplyDeletehmm, interesting topic my friend... what to say without sounding like the average fool...
ReplyDeletefirstly, what chris brown did in the past has absolutely nothing to do with why he was chosen to perform the tribute. not that i kno who chose him or why, but in the end it was a choice made by someone who evidently thought chris was the person for the job due to his talent with dance. they obviously have decided that he too is only human & in order to make sure that the tribute was not only enjoyable, entertaining & well displayed they chose the right person in my humble opinion.
the fact of the matter is, we all have made MISTAKES in life, some bigger than others & some of us still don't understand why ppl do what they do or why some continue to put others and themselves in these situations. I'd like to think that when i make a mistake i learn from it, we can only pray that Chris does as well...
also brought up is the fact that MJ was abused as a child, well if u look into Chris's past, there too was abuse. He's also been interviewed & has told his own stories of abuse (by his mom's boyfriend i believe) with his mom @ his side as he talked about it. I don't think that this should be used as an excuse as to why a person abuses later in life, yet so many do try to throw that in when they get caught being abusive. I don't think there will ever be a reason or excuse that will explain it away but abuse is abuse no matter what the case or the person's name may be, or how much money they have. however i do truly believe that when given the chance many ppl will learn fast that it doesn't take much to make changes in your personal being to show others that you're ready to prove that you're not the person you were @ the time of the incident. other's of course, take a few times and still others never learn...
true, you get one chance for life, but does that mean you get only one chance IN LIFE? i think not. i could go on all night long (& YOU KNO THIS!! :D) about how many ppl have been given more than enough chances and are still making ppl smile, laugh, and yes, even cry, but i won;t for fear that my budee will never want me to comment on his blog again, but i want to leave with this one thought. How many chances would you want to try to make yourself a better person? yes your past has alot to do with your future, but not so much that you should live the rest of your life shunned by the very ppl who were singing your praises when so many of them have themselves been guilty of making mistakes, or have also had to ask forgiveness for being simply human...
oh, & as for his fan base, DUH?!? of course it's part women silly! and the other part would be what? no sir, the other part would be men.
I still love me some CHRIS BROWN MUSIC just like i did before...
to err is human, to forgive is WHAT??? oh yeah... part of being human, too.
Humanity likes to forget its past. Ask a kid why he has to learn history and you'll get a blank look.
ReplyDeleteWe live in an ADD society where news must fit into 30 second intervals and anything not scandalous or sexy isn't news. America has already forgotten about last week's news - let alone 9/11, the gulf oil spill and yes, even MJ unless his music is playing.
My hopes is that it will soon forget Brown too.
I believe Rhianna would also have made a worthy host candidate, but Brown provides more shock value.
We can debate this all night. We're probably better off agreeing to disagree.
@Rob: are you happy now? your blog has people talking...lol
