It's 2010, summer and it seems the positive and negative energies are at war challenging each other for our attention more than ever. Not sure why but I'm more in tune with the big picture at this point in my life. With the powerful movement of social media and social networking, more people young and old are most likely feeling the same way now that more information is not obtainable, but down right pushed upon us and probably for the better.
Makes me wonder, is there a point where to much info comes into play> Must we know everything that everyone is doing 24?7? Probably not. Let me manually refresh my stream. Must I know what flight ?uestlove is on or what Alyssa Milano had for lunch, or how about my friends letting me know what jam they're rocking to on the way to work via car radio?
I'm a true believer that print ads will soon be a thing of the past. Not all together abolished, but will become far from the principle outlet in ones marketing budget. Hell the milked our business pockets long enough and had us needing to drive more revenue just to cover the print budget.
Lets move on. Very interesting how some companies are taking full advantage of technologies available to help drive new business and others are ill prepared and reluctant to leave the culture the comfortably have been part of. So it goes for our families and friends as well. Some are quick adapters, some never touch a qwerty or mouse.
Never the less, the future is here and daily it will come faster and quicker, so my thoughts: "Dive in head first, the waters not that bad after a little while".

This is interesting. I love that I can use technology for communicating with my friends and also If I a have question in mind and it cannot be answered I can simply Google for the answer. But as far as useless information like what someone made for dinner and how it tasted, I feel, is too much info and who really cares? I can use useless info by playing Trivia Pursuit! As for Social networking it comes in handy for advertising and if you act on the network itself. But on the contrary, If you simply stay behind the keyboard 24/7 and only through internet or electronics how social are you really? In my opinion, I use this as a tool when needed but still have old values as well. There are limits, and I control Whether it is Useful and credable information and how I obtain it. As Long as all is healthy and postive and not poisonous I am game to jump in the Water! Sink Or Swim is what I live by! Marcella Ruiz

ReplyDeleteLike too much of anything else, alternate forms of communication have destroyed simple human contact. Where before you would call or meet up with a friend or family member to let them know something you wanted to share, now we are conditioned to posting it in cyberspace and letting even people you don't give a crap about offer their commentary. We are now conditioned to constantly have the light shined on us - even if it happens to be a pen light.
ReplyDeleteWhile it's useful to pass info amongst each other rapidly, we forget that the point of sharing some data (specifically that of a personal nature) used to be opening oneself up to a select chosen few.
Nowadays, everyone knows that John and Mary are angry at each other...it's in their facebook status...
We've definitely replaced quality of "friends" with quantity.
